Vegetarian & vegan friendly | Stockholm is not famous for its great hummus nor falafel. Usually when speaking about these foods Malmö or Copenhagen are most frequently mentioned. I totally agreed on that, until I visited Maxos.

This little spot is hidden on a street close to the more crowdy Flemingsgatan on Kungsholmen. The menu is mostly vegetarian and has plenty of vegan options such as the Hummus original, Foul, Hummus combo, falafel in bread & falafel in a pita wrap. The Foul was an explosion of flavours with an intense taste of garlic, chili, lemon & olive oil. The fava beans were tenderly cooked in a semi warm creamy mix where the beans hadn't been mashed as I'm am used to. The portions were large and were served with some pickled vegetables, deep-fried sweet potato & cauliflower and pita bread on the side. The hummus was also amazing and really mouthwatering. The creamy texture was nicely accompanied with whole roasted chickpeas & fresh parsley. These two dishes were finally garnished with a few falafels that were just perfectly crispy. These were more like the falafels I was use too when living in Cairo a couple of years ago! Maxos is definitely worth another visit while in Kungsholmen and I'm already looking forward to return.

Crowdy around lunch time but the atmosphere was still very cozy. The restaurant is small but with a couple of long tree tables where lots of guests can find room. The kitchen is open which is a plus since I love to watch the chefs in action.

Eventhough its hectic around lunch hours, the straff is still very friendly and could handle the pressure. The orders and preparations of the food is handled very effective so you don't have to wait very long in the queue.
